Paigham-ae-Mohobbat
She came, she showed, she conquered. Within 48 hours of her maiden trip to India, Pakistan’s youngest and first female foreign minister proved to be a femme fatale.
She now has men swooning over those limpid eyes and husky voice, fashionistas drooling over her fantastic dressing sense and most of our hypocritical politicians neatly wrapped around her little finger, conveniently placed, next to her solitaire. Donning swadeshi threads even as she was adorned with videshi accessories, she proved she has no ‘anti American, anti European “agenda, whatsoever.
She smoothly breezed through a tight schedule, meeting not only members of the ruling party but also the opposition and the separatists. Hoping for a “cooperative, bilateral and friendly relationship” this charmer, who is a chip off the old block politicians of Pakistan from Khar Garbi village, has inherited the post from her father Ghulam Noor Rabbani Khar. Skillfully and serenely she played all her cards right and has hands down been the best face forward by a nation that often needs to hide face, otherwise.
Putting to rest all the doubts on her abilities raised within her country, Khar managed to hold on to her own even as she charmed ours, a nation that loves to hate Pakistan, bringing a positive and fresh approach along with her, she literally has proved to be ‘khushrang Hina’.She kept her chin up with the media and bowed at our famous Dargahs, praying for the peace and prosperity of Pakistan on Indian soil.
The lady, who is now the new face of Pakistan has not one but three faux Facebook pages with thousands of Indian followers, could as well qualify as Minister for Sports, with her love for horse riding, trekking and cricket. Stressing on cricket diplomacy, she smartly steered clear of the Kashmir and terrorism issues (which by the way are India’s main issue with Pakistan) indirectly hinting that they are, perhaps, non-negotiable. Firmly grounded to her roots and mission, she let the labels do the talking even as she chose not to speak on her fashion statements during her interviews, while answering all others questions with an in depth knowledge that would be considered rare for a novice.
Juggling motherhood, ministers and business matters, seems to be a piece of cake for this mom of three who runs the elite Polo Lounge Club in Pakistan .She is the kind of person that upper class Pakistanis would like to be perceived as-professional, pretty and popular. Its neighbouring state, India is no exception, either. For once, the feeling is positively mutual between Indo-Pak, all thanks to Pakistan’s new Foreign Minister- Hina Rabbani Khar.
